TEAM BUILDING

Team building is very necessary when we work on an important project in different teams. A team is not formed when we select different people, it forms when these different peoples start understanding each other and work efficiently. To build a team we have several activities which are proven very efficient in building teams out of a group of people who don’t know each other very well. So let us discuss them all one by one.

  • WHITEBOARD CHALLENGE: There are two separate teams and a whiteboard having a partition for both teams. Each time one person comes to form each team and other team members of the respective team get a folded paper containing a simple shape. The other team members have to explain the shape to their respective team representatives so that the representative will draw it on the whiteboard. In every round, the team representatives and shapes get changed, since both the teams always get a different shape as compared to the other team so no one can cheat. In the end, points from all rounds get calculated and the team with the highest points get wins.
  • TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE: Here all team members sit at a comfortable place where each team member says three statements about themselves one by one out of which only two are true and one is a lie. Other team members have to decide which one of the three statements is a life. The statements should be realistic and not known by any of the other team members.
  • WHOSE FACT IS IT ANYWAY?: Every member of the team writes a fact on a paper chit then fold it and places it in a bowl. Anyone from the team plays the role of an anchor, once every team member placed their chit the anchor mixes them, opens folded chits one by one, and announces the facts written on them. All other team members have to decide that this fact is written by whom. It is an excellent way to present our feeling in front of our team anonymously.
  • OFFICE TRIVIA: This is like a quiz competition where different questions are asked by the anchor. Goodie bags and gift hampers are given to anyone who answers correctly. This activity is used in many television shows to feel connected with the audience.
  • OFFICE OLYMPICS: This is my personal favorite from Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly of the office, where all team members challenge each other in the activities in which they believe that no one can defeat them. Every team member gets the opportunity to give the name of any one game of their own choice no matter whether that game even exists or not and they also decide the rules for their own game. In the end, medals get distributed in the medal ceremony based on their ranking like gold, silver, and bronze made up of any recycled material like yogurt lids and paper clips.
